EA Sports is dead
You know, I’ve been pretty riled up about how EA has handled Madden Mobile and all the promos, etc... and then I remembered something. 2K is releasing their first football game in like 17 years next year. You might be saying, yeah but boxer4588 that doesn’t mean EA is dead just because another football is coming out. And that’s when I’d tell you that Madden is the last legitimate sports franchise EA has, maybe FIFA but even that is waning with games like PES. Let’s take a little walk down memory lane. Does anyone here remember MVP baseball? Maybe you don’t since the last version was released in 2005 when 2K released their first baseball game and the year before the MLB series on PlayStation became The Show franchise. EA got their brakes beat off by competitors and haven’t dared return since. But that’s just one sport. Hold on a second though, who here remembers the PGA Tour series? Last one was released 5! years ago. Competitors like The Golf Club and 2K have since taken over and produced a far superior product. But wait, there’s more. EA also couldn’t hack it when it came to NBA Live and they cancelled the releases of the last two installments in the franchise, yet another major sport that 2K has dominated them in.
EA knowingly produces an inferior product, so much so, that they lose out on exclusive partnerships in major sports leagues over and over and over. I won’t be surprised when the exclusivity EA has with the NFL for simulation games runs out that they lose it to 2K.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk, save your money for Candy Crush, Angry Birds and the upcoming 2K NFL game in 21. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.
