Thank you all great people.
I haven't posted much on this subreddit but i would like to talk a bit about how much this franchise is to my life.
My first ever FE game was Heroes. I know, it's an entry for many players, even so as much as Awakening. I found this cute little game on a website while trying to find 'Top 10 iPhone games'. I downloaded the game soon afterwards. Never really having seriously played a gacha or a strategy game, I was just outright confused. I thought you had to buy skills and SP. If I recall correctly, my first ever summon was the CYL1 free summon. I chose Brave Roy because, well, I thought units with red hair were powerful.
This was right before the Farfetched Heroes banner.
Soon I had accumulated my worth of units, and I am not too proud to say I only had a few, and that they were mostly five-star exclusives. Fast forward a few weeks, I felt it was time for a 'reboot'. I deleted the game, and reinstalled it.
When I opened the app, I couldn't get pass thr loading screen as I woould be immediately exited from the game.
I stopped FEH for some time, around 2-3 months. Then I had started emulating Pokemon on my phone. While searching for some roms, I found out that Fire Emblem was still a thing. Soon, I found that factory resetting my phone worked to let me play FEH.
I was overjoyed.
Soon I spent every second of free time to play the game. About 2-3 months in, I had a formidable team and quite the amount of units. Then, my mid-year holiday came. (im from asia) I found my DS, took a R4 card and downloaded Shadow Dragon on it. Well, you could say that it had my attention for the rest of the holiday. I faced unit deaths, missed recruitments and many more pitfalls. My holiday had come to an end, and yet again what was so close was taken away again.
Revisiting Tweakbox, I realize GBA4ios is still a thing and play SS on it. I fed units to Colm, and he destroyed the game. Sadly the revoke came and I wasn't able to continue the game.
Then again another holiday came and I downloaded New Mystery on the DS. I still haven't finished the game but so far it's pretty good.
But, why am I telling you all this?
Well, Fire Emblem has... helped me. Orb management has led me to be a more 'money-able' person. Through the SS I actually learnt to manage my time. I learnt compassion, and I learnt betrayal. Playing the DS games let me learn to recapitalize on my previous mistakes, to learn from them.
I'm not as hardcore as most of you here.
I'm not as good as most of you here.
But, I, together with all of you, play Fire Emblem.
While a 14 year old like me under Asian parents doesn't have freedom like most of you do, this game propells me. I don't know why I've written this, but saying this relieves a lot on my chest. No one in my school has ever heard of Fire Emblem, so sharing my story with you great people makes me relieved.
What are your stories?
