Feel mislead by boxycharm and Faccia? Want to do something about it but aren't sure where to start?
I was planning on writing this up over the weekend with some more information. After seeing ChampagneTasteOnABeerBudget's video regarding Faccia, and also the action that the Fashionista box is taking towards Faccia, I decided maybe it was best to write something up real quick so the links are readily available to anyone who would like to file a complaint against Facca/Boxycharm. These are only USA based, I do not have consumer knowledge in Canada.
I will list the following organizations I have researched and a short description of what to write in your complaint and for which company. The exception to this is Leaping Bunny, who I have reached out to but have yet to hear a response back from regarding complaint submission.
I am not a lawyer or associated with any consumer law, this is just plain internet research and past experience from being a consumer.
Boxycharm and Faccia are separate entities. Reporting both of them will take a bit of leg work, but I will try to assist anyone who has questions. Some of these sites are appropriate for Faccia and some are more appropriate for Boxy. I would not suggest reporting the parent company at this time, as there is just not enough information yet to know where they are purchasing all of their products from. I mean, we know, but we need actual evidence in order for these organizations to care.
When filing your complaint, when asked please include as much information that is factual as possible. Try not to get emotional and stick to the facts, that is all the people reading these emails care about.
I hope this helps anyone looking to take the extra steps to report them. This is all information publicly available on the internet.
If anyone has any statements on specifically what someone should say please comment! I'm not great at wording sometimes so I am just typing this up as a summary of resources with minimal information other than that.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is responsible for protecting the public health by assuring the safety, efficacy and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, our nation's food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation.

Do not let the wording fool you if you read this and think it is only for medical cases. It is for BOTH consumer product (cosmetics) feedback AND medical. I suggest submitting any medical information you have if you did happen to experience an adverse reaction on top of also complaining about the actual Faccia product itself. Specifically, the FDA is looking for complaints requesting to:
- recall a product or requiring a manufacturer to conduct further studies to demonstrate the product's safety prior to allowing the product back on the market

FTC-
The
purpose of the FTC is to enforce the provisions of the Federal Trade Commission Act, which prohibits "unfair or deceptive acts or practices in commerce.

2 separate complaints should be made here- 1 for Faccia Skin detailing that they are misrepresenting and selling products they did not manufacture themselves. The other should be for boxycharm detailing they are advertising a product that has a retail value different than the actual product's cost and misleading consumers.

Leaping Bunny-
The
Leaping Bunny Program seeks to prevent future
animal testing so companies must agree not to conduct any
animal testing after a fixed cut-off date. Our Standard is the only one that guarantees a product to be free of new
animal testing.
I have not verified this is the proper way to submit complaints. DLS is leaping bunny certified, however Faccia is not. Use this link to report Faccia Beauty. Each company needs its own certification.

Better Business Bureau-

Better Business Bureaus.

I believe you can do both. Neither Faccia Skin nor DLS Cosmetics currently have a BBB profile that I could find, or I would link that as well. Only submit a complaint if you are a current or recent Boxycharm customer.

NJ Department of Consumer Affairs
The
New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs (DCA) is a governmental agency in the state of New Jersey that is responsible for protecting the public "from fraud, deceit and misrepresentation in the sale of goods and services."
https://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/ Since Faccia Beauty and DLS cosmetics are located and run out of New Jersey, this is the best option for reporting them to the state. It is much more likely the state will investigate before any of the other federal entities do.

There are no guarantees that any of this will work, but if there are enough complaints to one entity or another there is a higher probability this will be looked into. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

EDIT 3: Clarity
So I've been scouring the internet and still can't find an answer to this question.... If we signed up for the Boxycharm Premium and are on the waitlist, do we know when we find out if we're OFF and confirmed to receive it? I feel like the first month for those who signed up, will end up with the base box AND the premium box if there's not enough time to cancel (the base box). Has anyone found a definitive answer to this? I don't mind receiving both the first month, but wanted to know ahead of time so I can shuffle one of my other subs and skip that month to make room. Let me know, thanks!
