My 6* review (3 accounts and ~130 6s)

You've seen these before, and I expect you'll see more in the future! Now, in celebration of my 50th 6* on my main (now 52, it's taken me quite a while to write this), I figured I'd throw out my 73 cents. Most of these thoughts are not new! Exclamation point.
Current 6* count by account: 52, 42, 39. The numbers are swarfarm links, which are mostly up to date.
Experimental units - units I suspected/"knew" to be not-good/non-meta AT THE TIME - are marked with bold.
  • Antares (fire lich)- My first nat4 on my 3rd account, first 6* there and first experimental 6*. Honestly, I can't recommend anyone else build him for ANYTHING except fire beast IF you have amazing runes to give him AND have nothing else to build. Even with that having been said, I stil like him. If he ever gets a CD reduction on his S2, I'll like him even better. Also, he helped that account get by the Veromos ToA boss the first several rotations.
  • Atenai (fire undine) - better than you might expect but stat hungry (high CR, HP and speed AND some acc) and needs maxed S2+S3 to shine. Some use in GW, decent in wind Beast (in my A/A- team).
  • Baretta x3 (fire sylph) - first monster I deviled on all my accounst, all around amazing PVE monster. ToA 1-100, ToAH 1-80+ so far. I even used him as an AO and GW speed lead for a long time until I built more relevant units there.
  • Chloe x2 (fire epikion priest) - I'm not a fan, but we all know her and what she does, so build her if you want that thing. If you have double Lushens and your Bernard is slow (like me), she's good there. I use her sometimes in GW just to counter another Chloe or, rarely in a Galleon/Chloe/Kat combo.
  • Colleen x3 (fire harpu) - wind elemental dungeon, NB10, Raids, everyone can and should build her. You can even use her in GW and vs. some ToA bosses.
  • Duamutef (fire horus) - IMHO, he's bad. I've tried damage and support builds and neither does enough to be relevant. S1 is fine for a support unit (proc rate of 100% would be nice after SIX skillups though!). His s3 feels more like an S2 and his S2 is underwhelming. The least they could do is give nat4s buffs that are 3/4 or permanent at max CD (hi Shannon!) instead of 2/3.
  • Hwa x3 (fire rakshasa)- awesome PVE monster. NB10/ToA100/raids. Not so much a content enabler as a content speeder-upper. Solid in GW as well until you build more specific GW units.
  • Hwahee (fire sky dancer) - Need to get her max skilled and better runed, but at that point she'll be solid for wind and potentially dark beast. Can also be used in NB10, but I liked other options better - built her initially for NB10 and she wasn't good enough without any skillups and the comp I had.
  • Kahli (fire high elemental)- fun GW unit with fairly high rune requirements (you need to be able to one shot your target) dependent on your current ranking but rewarding once you hit that point (like Katarina). I've also seen her runed support for speedy DB10.
  • Khmun (fire anubis) - solid GW unit, one of my favorite new-ish units. Very solid. You have to build the right team for him, but in those teams he can really shine. My default Khmun team is Velajuel(l) Khmun Xiong Fei. This team can auto a surprising number of C3 GWDs and manual many G1s.
  • Laika (fire dragon knight) - Like a fire Theo without the life jacket? I've seen people say he sucks, but he hits hard enough (even with my crappy runes) that I like him. Needs maxed S2 and violent runes to shine, in addition to the usual CCD requirements.
  • Lisa x2 (fire agent) - amazing raid cleanser, can also be used in NB10 and GW (I use her against buff heavy teams where I can't use Bella). Needs maxed S3, violent, 200+ SPD to shine in raids. I have her on my 3rd, but no agents to skill her up, so I'm using Kona in R4 instead.
  • Perna - Perna is Perna. Everything you've heard is true.
  • Platy (fire mermaid) - she's a decent GW monster with, IMHO, very high rune requirements in order to be worth it. She also needs to be max skilled. If you can max skill her AND get her VERY fast on violent, she can be quite good in GW. I also used her in Db10 before Briand, and early on in HoH B2 and ToA auto teams. In both places Mikene is better (and Briand FAR better), but she's better than nothing.
  • Randy (fire bounty hunter) - I'm building him for wind beast, but he's also decent for light/dark beasts and in GW when you run a defense nuker (primarily Copper, but also Bulldozer).
  • Raki (fire hell lady)- Can't wait to get that unawakened transmog…not a fan of the post-awaken look at all. I find her most useful in GW BUT I have enough other good monsters on account #2 that I haven't deviled her yet, so I have yet to see her full potential. I like her on violent with spd/cd/atk or atk/cd/atk and speed subs. Great against rezzing teams but honestly I usually just bring something else and kill things multiple times. Maybe after I get her skilled up.
  • Shihwa x2 (fire nine tails) - pretty solid fire dps all around. Obviously great in NB10, but can also be used in GW and fire/wind/dark beast. If you have a good team comp for a fire-heavy NB10 team it's worth building her, but if not I wouldn't.
  • Tesarion x3 (Fire ifrit) - Solid, even if only for occasional use vs. the Veromos ToA boss (I don't need him anymore as I can generally auto it, but I used him to neuter the Hwadams and Pernas for a long time) and Lyrith's incarnations. Also good vs. passive heavy teams in GW but, honestly, I usually find a more relevant unit to use. Depending on what else you have, he can be amazing in GW or just bonus. Nice against that pesky wind panda, for instance.
  • Vanessa x2(+1 dupe) (fire valk) - She sits in AD! That it, really. Some people use her in AO, but for me I use other speed leads with more relevant skills like Shimitae or (if you're lucky) Fei. I used her as a DB10 rezzer for a bit too, but even Mikene is better than her there.
  • Velajuel (fire angel)- Great unit all around. He can be used in many places, but I pretty much only use him in GW in my Velajuel(l)/Khmun/Xiong Fei team and occasionally on AD. I've tried damage builds, which work if that’s what you want, but I like the support build (SPD on 2) better currently. Looking to put him on revenge offset soon because it's hilarious when the whole GW team revenges on aoe.
  • Verde x2 (fire vamp) - Verde is Verde. You've heard the hype. He's a content enhancer like Hwa in that he makes things you could already do much faster and easier (speeds up auto ToA and dungeon teams) and an enabler for DB10 in that he'll let you run DB10 when your other units are too slow, and run a face team with lower rune reqs. Also the enabler for many (but not all) speed DB10 teams.
  • Xiong Fei x3 (fire panda) - NB10, raids, GW. Solid and worth fusing, definitely fuse him before Katarina I'd say, as the setup and runes required to make him relevant in GW are lower than hers (as is the ceiling - he's not going to potentially wipe the entire team like she can).
  • Zibrolta (fire kobold) - Good for necro and sorta OK dark beast and that's about it. Not as great for dark beast as he could be, as a decent chunk of his power comes from the dots on his S3. If you already have a necro team, I wouldn't build him.
  • Aegir (water barbaric king)- I don't like him, nothing I've tried has worked well enough to be worth it. However, I don't have him max skilled. I think if you could get him max skilled he could be decent in GW and in certain DB10 face teams.
  • Alicia x2 (water polar queen) - Amazing farmer, great AO & GWO wombo monster. I like her on SPD/CD/ATK.
  • Avaris - Not nearly as bad as people make him out to be BUT needs max skills.
  • Bastet (+1 dupe) (water desert queen) - She's bad (IMHO!), sorry. Not bad in the sense of having bad skills but just bad in the sense that you should almost always have something better than her to use in any situation where you might choose to use her. Hoping for her long overdue buff in the next balance patch…
  • Chandra (water beast monk) - I love him (I'd love any other element BM more but hey! :P). I've seen all kinds of opinions saying he's crap to amazing… I'd put him closer to amazing, but not top tier. In addition to his obvious PVP usage (Hug is much better when used smartly), I used him in my DB10 face team in the Spectra role (aoe slower). He was my second nat5, so he's been with me a while and through a couple rune builds. My current favorite is the speedy support build - violent/xx spd/hp/hp with acc, res,hp subs.
  • Chilling x2 (water jack-o'-lantern) - I want to like this dude, I really do. I love his kit. What I don't love are his animations and his stat setup. He's an attack type monster with low-ish attack and no benefit to damage from his passive. I think if they added speed scaling to his S1 and/or shifted his stats to give him at least 825 attack he'd be better in that way. I mostly use him as support, so I wouldn't mind if his type was shifted to support and his HP and DEF buffed and ATK lowered either.
  • Chow (water dragon knight) - Great monster all around. GW, DB10, farmer, elemental beasts.
  • Fedora (water death knight)- Built him for R4 and he's OK there, not much use elsewhere.
  • Galleon x3 (water pirate king of the world) - As good as you've heard. Build him, devil him, don't look back.
  • Julie (water street clown? (pierret)) - Very good (conditional) aoe nuke. Solid faimon farmer and great in AO combo teams, etc. Not sure how high her farming requirements are, so I wouldn't recommend her as a first farmer, but she can be quite speedy later on.
  • Konamiya (water garuda) - All around fun monster. Solid in GW in the right teams, can cleanse R4 (at least) and can be in Db10 if you really need it.
  • Mihyang (water sky dancer) - Still working on building her right (need skillups), but general consensus is that she's great in raids, and great in general, but has high rune requirements to shine.
  • Mikene x2 (water undine) - fusable DB10 rezzer. If you don't have a Briand, just get it out of the way and do it. Doesn't need skillups and you can have bad runes and still run her in Db10 due to her being water. I was using her at 5* for a while too, so that's a thing.
  • Orion x3 (water brownie magician) - Hilarious master of RNG. Build him eventually just because you're so sick of seing other Orions go off it will finally feel good to see yours browniehandle an entire team.
  • Qebehsenuf (water horus) - GW combo monster (Kat, primarily) and that's really it. S2 needs a CD buff imho.
  • Rigel (water lich) - Much better than he used to be. Solid NB10 & raid DPS. With good enough runes and maxed S2 can be decent in fire/light/dark beast.
  • Sigmarus x3(+1 dupe) (water phoenix) - better than you think? Rock solid pve monster. Great DB10 DPS with relevant leader skill. I think mine might have been my first faimon hard farmer ages ago? There are definitely better choices than that, but it is doable. Worth deviling just to speed up Db10 and make male ToA boss rotation a little faster as well.
  • Stella (water assassin) - solid raid DPS unit, can also be used in speed DB10. Also rarely used in GW.
  • Susano (water ninja) - solid GW nuker, post buff to his S2. Also pretty easy to build faimon farmer if really want. However, utility outside those two places is limited so in general probably not worth building. I just did it because I had almost enough extra dupes to max him.
  • Talc (water battle mammoth) - Really good 3, used him in 2 of my DB10 teams (one at 5) for a long, long time. Can also be used in GW and to tank ToAH bosses.
  • Theomars x3 (water ifrit) - Yawn. Wrecking ball with a life jacket. Hate him or hate him and love him, you build him if you have him.
  • Tyron (water sylph) - OK early game farmer, solid early to mid game ToA unit (I stopped using him in there a long time ago), decent AO and GW speed leader (I still use Tyron/Bella/Eshir sometimes) but IMHO he's not really a monster you need to build anymore. I would toss him in storage unless you really want some specific aspect of his set that can't be provided elsewhere.
  • Acasis (wind sylphid)- Was great for giants pre-Vero and OK in ToA on despair, but not worth building anymore IMHO. Going to experiment with Attacksis build for water beast on FRR (update: worked about as well as expected: not great).
  • Akhamamir x2 (wind ifrit) - reliable Aiden farmer or wombo nukers. I've used both atk/cd/atk acd spd/cd/atk and am happy with both. Worth investing devils in if you plan to use in combo long term, or if you don't see a better aiden farmer coming along. Also a solid ToA monster if runed despair. One of mine farms Aiden Hell in <1 min with only C1 runes.
  • Aquila (wind brownie magician) - Decent AO buffer, I use him in the Chloe+Lushenx2+boffer combo. Sieq would probably work better, but I like the occasional (?) buff removal and potential stuns from despair.
  • Bernardx2 (wind griffon) - 6 him when you don't have anything else to 6 and have spare foddeneed to burn a double xp/etc. He can do almost every part of his job just fine at 5*, but he deserves a 6. The extra durability from 6ing can help him take a hit or two if your combo doesn't wipe enemy team in GW (winning after a wombo fail is more likely for me in GW than AO, usually a fail in AO is a fail).
  • Briand x3 (with death knight) - amazing PVE unit. HoH MVP time and time again. ToA 1-99 auto team member. Build him if you've got him (unless maybe you have Eladriel), it's worth deviling him as well if you can afford it. You'll really notice that difference in the rez cooldown in certain HoHs - it can be the difference between a wipe and not.
  • Chasun x3 (wind sky dancer) - Super annoying queen of heals! Doesn't let you do anything new in PVE, but lets you do things safer. In PVP well...yeah, she's nuts in GW (and arena if you run that kind of comp).
  • Copper (wind living armor) - He does this thing, which is one shotting things and, if you build the right team for him, he does it very well. Build him if you need this.
  • Delphoi (wind undine) - I use mine almost completely in GW. She's not good for raids, imho (in the sense that there are far better options, and her raid build wouldn't be the same as her GW build) and I wouldn't recommend new players building her. BUT, if you have her, she does have some good uses - mostly countering Theo in GW. I use Delphoi(L)/CoppeOlivia. I like her on swift/xx, spd/hp/hp with lots of acc subs.
  • Fuco x2 (wind lich) - One of the easiest aiden farmers to build, rune requirement wise. Great NB10 + non-fire beast DPS unit. Decent value in GW as well. He does want his skills maxed for necro though, so keep that in mind.
  • Iunu (wind anubis) - not nearly as bad as he used to be, or as many say. If you need a water unit killed in GW, and you have appropriate runes, he's going to kill that thing. He's not going to hit as hard as a nat5 because he's not a nat5…or even as hard as many nat4s due to a low atk stat BUT the scaling+brand on his S2 is solid. One buff away from being "good" (but not awesome) IMHO - needs the CD reduced on S2 to 2 turns total at max skillup. Plus, kinda fun to run him in a team with Perna for the self-rezzing hilarity. Also, he work as an anti-Seara. Run him with 2 fire units and she can kill him and then he can come back and kill her…depends on the enemy comp, of course.
  • Julien (wind phantom thief) - he's a MEH for me. Some people love him. He's a good unit with good multipliers, I was just never a fan - most likely because he was my first 6* and that did not work out at all. Someday I'll go back and give him good runes and wreck some face. But not today.
  • Katarina x3(+2 dupes) (wind valk) - Very good GW unit IF you have the combo enabler (Chloe, Qeb, Neal, etc.), almost useless without that. Has fairly high rune requirements to get real mileage out of in GW, but shines when you get those runes.
  • Lagmaron (wind chimera) - Amazing! Worthy of being a nat5 and one of my favorite units. His S1 is underwhelming when runed swift spd/cd/atk as I have him, but I like the flexibility that brings (and don't have better runes!) so I stick with that for now. Decent in GB10 & speed GB10, decent in some HoH, but really shines in GW and as a speedy aiden farmer.
  • Lushen x3 (wind joker) - PVP beast (with the right team) and OK farmer. I'd say don't 6* him until you have two (which is what I did on main), but plenty of others say 6* him first and use as your farmer, so do whatever works for you. I've deleted MANY Lushen reps that were unreliable in Aiden but also seen some amazing ones so you know…only as good as your runes :).
  • Mav (wind penguin knight) - finally got around to 6ing this dude. He doesn't NEED to be 6* to do his job (ToAH maestro) but it doesn't hurt -e specially when he is taunting+tanking bosses. Also, I want to try him on one of the beasts, and 5* does NOT cut it there.
  • Olivia (wind neostone agent) - My 3rd account couldn't pull the other agents, so I mostly skilled an Olivia with the HOH - and it turned out to be worth it! She's great with Copper and Delphoi in GW, and mine is still missing some skillups and has shitty runes. If you're not going to run a DEF nuker combo (primarily Copper), I would not build her.
  • Shannon x2 (wind pixie) - early GB10 mvp. Can also be used in early ToA teams. Tends to be 6* as a stepping stone to getting your GB10 team ironed out. However, with all the tweaks and new additions since I did it, I think she can probably fill this role @ 5* with some good runes and you can save the 6ing for other things. That being said, if you wanna do it, do it.
  • Shimitae (wind sylph) - disliked this guy for ages, but finally opted to build him out so I had something to feed sylphs to and as an AO speed leader and he does his job well. Can also use him as a generic wind nuke in GW. Not an amazing unit, but a good one. Does what he's meant to if you need that thing.
  • Tanya (wind assassin) - GW nuker. Can erase almost any water unit, potentially two. Not a unit you build early on though, as that's about her only use. Build her when you are sorely lacking a single target wind nuker for GW AND have a team to put her on built already.
  • Xing Zhe (+1 dupe) (wind monkey king) - my first nat5! I guess it's fitting that I pulled a twin of him eventually. I think I'll build the second one someday, just to be annoying, but for now he runs solo. Very flexible unit with many builds. Primarily a pvp monster (AD, GW, GWD), but can be used in raids and probably on some of the beasts too. After all this time, I still haven't found an optimal build, nor maxed any of his runes :P.
  • Imesety (wind horus) - GW combo monster and that's about it. Build him if and only if (iff?) you have a CoppeBulldozeetc. to team him with.
  • Triton (wind sea emperor) - I just pulled this dude and am super excited about trying him out. So far, it seems like the buff removal portion of his S3 ignores glancing, so he's going to be good for the main thing I wanted an aoe stripper for - Chloe ADs! He hits like a wet noodle (no special scaling on his abilities, and even though the multipiers are good you rune him for support/tankiness), but hopefully the rest of the kit makes up for that - seems like it should. He's not there to kill things, he's there to make things killable! His S2 is the weakest point, and I feel like it could use another turn of CD reduction or an additional effect OR 1 turn longer silence (any one of those would be fine imho, not multiples) BUT, even with that being said he still looks pretty solid so far.
  • Teshar (wind phoenix) - Up there with Alicia as a top farmer and AO wombo nuker. Glassiest of cannons.
  • Ahman - not as useful as he used to be, but can still round out a GB10 team or occasionally taunt a ToA/ToAH boss.
  • Aria - Also not as key/clutch as she used to be, what with the taoist combos ruling the ToAH meta but still pretty good in there if you want to use her for it or don't have watedark taoist. Wants/needs skillups badly.
  • Bella x3- Should almost always be your 1st or 2nd 6*.
  • Eshir - Great GW unit. I don't use him anywhere else, but you could do a really tanky AO or something with him, if you have that kind of time.
  • Molly - The queen of defensive RNG? Still hunting for skillups for mine, but she's totally usable without them. I use her in Theo comps, typically where I can't use another cleanser and expect someone to be def broken. Theo/Molly/Chasun, that kind of thing.
  • Silver - GW in the right circumstances, good raid frontliner. Tried him for GW initially, but now reworking for raids as I've heard he does well there.
  • Tosi - Non glancing AOE nuke. Great for wombos. I don't use him much since he's on the account with Teshar+Alicia, but I'm slowly skilling him up.
  • Amduat - Now getting used in really high in ADs, but I'll never get there, so for me he's mostly a novelty GW monster. Once I get 2 more skillups I'm going to try him in my auto ToA team.
  • Basalt - Took me forever to get this dude (only have him on #3), and he's soo darn useful. He replaced Talc in my DB10 tower team and he's amazing in ToA & ToAH.
  • Dias x2 - Great raid frontliner. That's about it - he does one thing, but he does it really well.
  • Fei - Another heavy RNG unit. Can hit crazy hard when you're lucky, and decently hard when you're not. The last re-work was just gravy…now she's even better. No reason not to build her if you have her. Typical usage (for me) is AO speed lead in wombo team, but you can work her in about anywhere you need a DPS (pve elemental teams, speed DB10/GB10, etc.).
  • Gorgo - Decent GW one shotter if you want one. Nothing I'd recommend rushing to build.
  • Grego - My first L/D nat4, I built this guy a long time ago. It's taken me forever to get runes I'm happy with on him (still not happy with him!) but I'm currently using him in NB10 in a standard atk/cd/atk build. I used him a lot in GW early on, and he's decent there, but I have better units for it now.
  • Jultan - really fun GW unit. I like him on despairevenge, hp/hp/hp with speed subs. Jultan Vero Perna is one of my go to teams - it hasn't failed to beat the Vero/Verde/Bella comp yet and even lacking that enemy team I still use this comp all the time.
  • Lydia - Still bad (or hard to use, at best). Was really bad before her buff in the sense that her one trick was hitting hard and she didn't hit that hard…now her one trick is a unique trick (full party reflect shield), but doesn't synergize well with her other skills IMHO. Hopefully she gets another tweak soon.
  • Mantura - amazing ToAH unit. Can also be used in AO wombo, GW wombo and potentially DB10(?). If you have Mantura, don't bother building the water or dark grim.
  • Varus - fun GW unit. Very niche, but very fun in the right team.
  • Veromos x3 - Should be your other 1st or 2nd 6*.
If you're curious about account progress:
  • all can auto G/B/N10
  • complete ToA (main can auto the entire thing some rotations, but I usually manual a few levels for safety)
  • Main can get ToAH 80+ before I get bored, alts I've never pushed past 60 because it takes too long.
  • R4.
  • All can hold their own in G1-G2 GW, but I enjoy my C3-G1 casual farming guild.
  • Main is C1, alts are F3.
  • All have selected their Homu's element. I haven't tried to grind out S2 yet - that's next month's project.
